A new HBO Original Series is coming to our screens this 2023!

On September 26, 2022, HBO released the full trailer of The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic drama series based on the 2013 video game of the same name.

The critically-acclaimed game was developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation platforms and was recognized with over 200 Game of the Year awards.

Gamers and fans expect that the drama adaptation will be able to showcase the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of The Last of Us.

The Last of Us has already been released!

After a lot of speculation that the series will be released in 2022, HBO listed on their website that the highly anticipated show – The Last of Us will be premiered in 2023.

The official date announcement was later on broadcasted after there were numerous reports that the release date has been shown in promotional materials visible only to HBO account holders.

In November 2022, HBO confirms that the show will debut on January 15, 2023 in the United States.

This was followed by the release of the official poster of the series.

In the first-look official teaser released by HBO Max on their Youtube channel on September 26, 2022, fans were treated with a sneak peek of the events and characters in the show.

The short video clip shows a pretty good adaptation of the video game and some easter eggs for game connoisseurs. As of December 2022, the trailer has already reached 17 million views across Youtube and Twitter.

Looking promising with its ultra-high definition and 4K resolution format, The Last of Us’ production is a joint endeavor of HBO, Sony Pictures, PlayStation, The Mighty Mint, Word Games, and of course, Naughty Dog, the creator.

The Last of Us takes place 20 years after an infectious disease called “Cordyceps fungus” has obliterated most of the world’s population. The victims of the outbreak turn into aggressive, cannibalistic creatures.

Joel, a hardened survivor with past traumas, was tasked to smuggle the 14-year-old Ellie, a distrusting teen, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone.

Ellie is said to be the key to the human race’s survival.

In a cross-country journey in America, the two characters are forced to travel and depend on each other as they face the brutal reality that they aren’t the only ones trying to survive in these desperate times.

Having to fight both the monsters and the survivors, will Joel be able to protect the world’s last hope until they reach their destination and finally cure humanity?

The Last of Us is an emotionally gripping story of trust, hope, and perseverance.

The Last Of Us TV Series

The Last of Us video game is a 2013 action-adventure game created by Naughty Dog, and released under Sony Computer Entertainment. It sold 1.3 million copies within the first week of its debut.

Following this success, The Last of Us had two attempts to be adapted into feature films, however, none of them prospered and were both cancelled.

HBO then announced that a television adaptation for The Last of Us had started its planning stages in March 2020. It was later given green-light on November 2020.

The Last of Us TV series started to slowly develop when Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann became the executive producers and writers for the show.

The pre-production of the series was shot in Calgary, Alberta in March 2021. Multiple directors, such as Ali Abbasi, Jasmila Žbanić, Peter Hoar, Liza Johnson, and Jeremy Webb, were tapped to direct an episode or two.

According to their latest announcement in November 2022, the first season of the show would consist of nine episodes.

Confirmed to star in the show are Pedro Pascal (The Game of Thrones and Narcos) who plays Joel, and Bella Ramsey (The Game of Thrones and The Worst Witch) who plays Ellie.

Other cast members are Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, and Merle Dandridge.
